Hungarian beef soup Print E-mail

Ingredients: (Serves 4-6)  

2 tbsp oil

1 large onion, chopped

400g/14oz minced beef

3 tbsp paprika

3 tbsp flour

2 litres/ 3½ pts water

4 potatoes, finely diced

1 large carrot, finely diced

2 beef stock cubes

1 tsp crushed caraway seeds

1 tsp dried garlic

1 tbsp dried marjoram

Salt, pepper

 

Method:

1. Heat the oil in a large pan, add onion and beef and fry for a few minutes, stirring continuously, until there is no pink in the meat.

2. Add paprika and flour, stir well and fry for another minute.

3. Pour in the water and bring to the boil.

4. Add potatoes, carrot, stock cubes, carraway seeds, garlic, marjoram, salt and pepper and simmer for 30 mins.

5. Season to taste and serve with some crusty bread.
